Trianco Photovoltaic panels are designed to be low maintenance

Photovoltaic panels work by converting light into low-cost electrical power for domestic and commercial users. Thin layers of semi-conducting material in voltaic cells are encased between sheets of glass or plastic and generate an electric charge when exposed to direct light.

As well as being a green energy source, PV panels are increasingly popular because they can be connected to local electricity networks, allowing excess solar power to be sold to the utility provider in turn electricity can be bought back from the network outside daylight hours.

The Trianco Smarter Energy product portfolio, which includes Activair and the Kerr wood burning boiler, has a new addition, Photovoltaic panels.

Trianco’s PV panels are designed to be low maintenance – with their ‘fit and forget’ installation they can be bolted easily to an existing roof to provide silent, automatic operation. The ideal installation is south facing at an angle of 30-40º, yet they work almost as effectively (at 85% efficiency) on east or west facing roofs.

Cloud, rain or low temperatures won’t affect performance but overcast afternoons conditions may. In fact, Trianco’s PV panels work better at lower temperatures, making them suitable for the UK’s temperate climate and there are no planning permission restrictions to install PV panels.
