Microgeneration to include air source heat pumps

The House of Lords has agreed to support the expansion of the statutory definition of ‘microgeneration’ to include air source heat pumps in a debate held earlier this week. John Kellett, the General Manager of Mitsubishi Electric’s Heating Department welcomed this news: “If we are truly to do something about the country’s carbon emissions then we must find ways of helping the consumer be green and heat pumps offer us that potential,” explained John Kellett.

“Getting recognition from our Government is another sign of support for modern air source heat pumps which can help homeowners cut CO2 emissions by up to 50% compared to a modern condensing gas boiler.”
