Commercially viable zero carbon house at Ecobuild
Zedfactory’s zero carbon house at Ecobuild will demonstrate that commercially viable zero carbon construction is not a myth. Anticipated to reach the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 6 standard, the full-size house at Ecobuild will reveal the design features, materials and systems that combine to make zero carbon housing a reality.
The output of the recently-formed RuralZed consortium which includes Aggregate, Rationel, Rockwool, Zedfactory and Green Carbon, a terraced version of the house is currently under construction, intended for both private purchase and social housing.
The house will be open for tours on 26 – 28 February and will be the culmination of the Ecobuild zero carbon series which includes:
* The road to zero carbon – the biggest showcase of low carbon building materials and systems in the UK, featuring dozens of major suppliers including Kingspan, Tarmac and BASF
* A whole zero carbon seminar programme featuring Designing for zero carbon, The Anatomy of a zero carbon house and Choosing and using low and zero carbon materials
* How low can you go? Wayne Hemingway on zero carbon design
* Dedicated conference sessions and keynote speeches, including the opening address from Housing and Planning Minister, Yvette Cooper
